The Senior Program Manager in Backend Manufacturing Automation (Backend Manufacturing Central Teams) at Micron Technology, Inc.
will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects and programs integral to the success of the backend manufacturing automation initiative.
The core function of this role will require applying industry standard program and project management methods as well as serving as a subject matter expert in establishing and maintaining overall project management best practices.
Further, the Senior Program Manager will guide, monitor and report the progress of multiple projects, project managers, and engineering teams across multiple manufacturing sites;
communicate process and reporting requirements and provide guidance to project teams; improve project management structure and tools;
implement OCT and Backend Automation business processes and resolve ad hoc issues. The Senior Program Manager will coordinate with program sponsors and stakeholders to develop plans and initiate projects, develop program roadmaps, and provide overall program status updates to senior and executive management.
The scope of this job includes, but is not limited to, supporting the Materials and Equipment Automation engineering teams and closely coordinating with the Control Systems Management teams under the Backend Automation initiative.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Backend Automation Projects, Systems, Tools
Assist with the design and implementation of Backend Automation / OCT business processes
Improve project management structure and provide insight into industry standards and best practices
Provide guidance to Backend Automation stakeholders within the context of project / program management processes
Utilize decision making and troubleshooting tools to resolve issues and problems
Assist with the planning, initiation, and management of projects within a program portfolio
Guide sponsors, stakeholders, and project leads in efforts to define project scope, objectives, and milestones
Assist project leads, teams, and sponsors in determining resource requirements, constraints, and alternatives
Provide boundaries and program oversight in the scheduling of project resources and tasks
Define and manage risks to project and program completion
Document project definitions and plan, and maintain status updates to each project plan
Communicate project vision, objectives, scope, and deliverables to sponsors and stakeholders
Lead Team Project Plan Implementation
Routinely conduct or facilitate engineering and project management meetings to drive schedule adherence
Resolve and address issues impacting individual projects or overall program success
Communicate program plan progress to key stakeholders
Assist with the definition of project metrics; Monitor and track program metrics
Mitigate and manage risks to overall program success
Monitor and manage constraints within a portfolio of programs and projects
Manage changes to milestones and scope, and ensure impacts to related projects are communicated and managed
Ensure the effective transition of project outcomes into sustaining processes
Close out and evaluate projects for effectiveness, gather lessons learned, and document value delivery
Coordinate with Peers in Related Automation Programs
Assist in the development of program roadmaps for strategic sequencing of projects or initiatives across programs
Collaborate with stakeholders on cross-departmental program roadmaps and align to business plans
Serve as liaison with external / supporting functions, such as Information Systems, Engineering, or Planning
Communicate program status to Backend Automation stakeholders, sponsors, and manufacturing community
Required : Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BBA, BS)
Business Administration / Management, Engineering, Production / Operations Management, Management Information Systems
Related field of study
Additional Education or Certification : Master’s Degree (MS, MBA)

Program Management certification (PMP or equivalent) may acquire after hiring
5 years of program or portfolio management experience involving engineering, manufacturing, or operations initiatives in any of the following :
Engineering, Manufacturing (Mechanical, Industrial Engineering)
Information Systems, ERP, Automation
Equipment Engineering, Automated Material Handling Systems
Semiconductor Industry (Backend Manufacturing, Engineering preferred)
Supply Chain Management (Planning, scheduling)
Knowledgeable in Business Process management and improvement tools
Proficient in Project Management and related project tracking tools, such as Microsoft Project
