Purposes :

  • Is responsible for the Business Unit’s achievement of the agreed objectives (sales and investment budgets)
  • Drives alignment of the Business Unit behaviour in business with local law, company values and policies
  • Joint leadership of affiliate transformation with affiliate Leadership Team by fostering an environment that promotes trust / transparency and customer centricity that inspires, motivates, and enables teams to adopt agile ways of working
  • Role model agile leadership behaviors
  • Is a member of the core management team and as such shapes the strategic direction, organization, processes and culture of the affiliate.
  • Aligns the Unit’s organization with the affiliate strategic intent

  • Leads sales and marketing teams within the Business Unit and fosters a productive work environment within the Unit and with cross functional team members (e.
  • g. Medical Manager, DRA Manager, Clinical Trial Manager, etc.)

  • Oversees product promotion strategy and its alignment with global strategy
  • Deploys human and financial resources within the Business Unit to best meet business objectives
  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities
  • Ensures the Unit’s compliance with business planning and SOPs
  • Develops team members to build high performance culture
  • Attracts and motivates members to build a strong talent pipeline
  • Outputs :

  • Achievement of quantitative and qualitative objectives set out for the Business Unit within a specified time frame (usually calendar year).
  • Employee satisfaction and creation of a productive work environment in line with company values.
  • Compliance with legal, industry and company policies.
  • Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Sets the vision and the strategic direction for the Business Unit
  • Actively participates in the annual marketing planning process for the Unit’s products and challenges product teams for higher performance and innovation
  • Verifies that marketing plans are aligned with international strategy and implemented as agreed
  • Appropriately resources and organizes marketing and sales teams for their job
  • Ensures that market research supports the business and decision taking
  • Monitors performance on a continued basis vs. KPIs and targets and pursues corrective actions where necessary in a timely fashion
  • Maintains and nurtures professional relationships with key customers
  • Defines with PMT cycle meeting and training needs and implements them
  • Guarantees timely delivery of core processes / internal company requirements / systems
  • Transmits Roche values every day in every circumstance
  • Empowers, challenges and inspires the Unit’s employees
  • Develops employees and particularly direct reports and HIPOs through regular feed-back, by involving them in challenging projects and through adequate exposure to new experiences
  • Regularly and formally evaluates employee performance and development needs
  • Identifies conflicts and personnel issues and addresses them before they escalate and harm the business
  • Develops strong team spirit
  • Defines negotiations boundaries and strategy
  • Participates in the Management Team Meetings in an active and involved manner, contributing beyond the own Business Unit’s interests
  • Participates in institutional activities
  • Professional and Technical Requirements :

    Education / Qualifications :

    Minimum : University degree or above (preferably in business or science)

    Strongly desired : MBA or above

    Experience, Skills, Knowledge :

  • Experience of 7+ years experiences in the Pharmaceutical Industry in various positions (of which at least 2 years in Product Management);
  • HQ experience is an asset

  • 5+ years of experience in people management, of which at least 2+ years’ experience in top management level is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the roles of leaders in an agile organization, characterized as Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst
  • Strong track record of successful people management
  • Strong track record of commercial success that can be attributed to the person
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (other languages are an asset)
  • Deep understanding of Pharma Industry
  • Good knowledge of software applications

  • Other (e.g., Travel) :

    National and international travel : Approximately 30 %
