The primary role of this position is :
This is a manufacturing engineering position responsible for implementing new products and sustaining existing products at various ODM / CEM manufacturing sites.
New ideas and methods are required to take AMD’s assembly processes to the next level for the growing GPU and APU / CPU businesses and customer base.
The GPU products you will be supporting could include the following : Gaming, Server, AI, Enterprise, Workstation, Computing, and more.
The scope of your responsibilities will include ensuring a stable manufacturing process, continuous yield improvements, and launching solutions on schedule.
Acts as liaison with internal customers and assembly partners.
Potential roles of a Manufacturing Engineering :
Early engagement with ODM / CEMs supplier on GPU and APU / CPU products.
Drive ODM / CEM to achieve quality target.
Generate and maintain operational procedures for AMD and manufacturing partners.
Create an efficient manufacturing assembly line, specifying and / or refining BOMs, workflow processes, and detailed MPI work instructions.
Take ownership of new products during prototype and pilot production phases through successful and sustained product launch.
This includes driving new product introduction schedules, resolving manufacturability issues, and driving improvements in cost and efficiency
Provide product and process DFM (Design for Manufacturing) input to Engineering design team(s) to enhance manufacturability and product cost
Design and create production equipment, fixtures, and tests as needed to build the production line either internally or as needed at manufacturing partners.
Provide technical support analyzing and / or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies and field returns
Lead / participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and streamlining of the supply chain
Customer complaints and field issues handling and drive ODM / CEM factory to come out solution immediately to meet customers’ requirement.
Conduct regular audits to ODM / CEM factory to ensure stable processes and continuous yield improvements.
Work as owner to coordinate with AMD teams and with ODM / CEM to solve yield issues immediately.
Develop and maintain effective working relationship with other departments.

Develop and improve manufacturing processes for new technologies or products
Years of experience and education : Candidates will have a B.S. degree plus 5 years of manufacturing engineering or related experience.
Required Skills :
5 years of hands-on experience in a high-volume PCBA manufacturing environment
5 years of hands-on experience in a NPI (new product introduction) PCBA manufacturing environment
Experience with quality systems and quality tool application including 8D and SPC
Familiar with factory operation (IQC / SMT / PTH / Assembly / Testing / Packaging / ESD)
Experience with supplier management
Able to work under pressure to deadlines
Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed engineering and manufacturing teams
Preferred Skills :
Training or certifications in Control Plans, PFMEA, APQP, IPC standards, and environmental compliance
PC and server architecture knowledge
Experience presenting to management levels
Knowledge of process management techniques such as Gage R&R, six-sigma and lean manufacturing
Experience with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office)
