Maintain and improve the quality and safety of the products produced.
Anticipate, trouble shoot, and quickly resolve problems and issues with employees and / or instruments.
Review and approve all facility documentation related to quality.
Evaluate and release equipment associated with product changeover, cleaning and sanitation processes.
Responsible for all aspects of the Quality Assurance and Laboratory Departments as they relate to plant operations.
Ensure that all routine quality assurance functions are performed accurately and at the required frequencies.
Work with Plant, Corporate and Sales personnel to resolve day-to-day quality tasks / problems as they arise.
Assist production management in managing and auditing the Cleaning Chemical Program.
Initiate investigations of all out-of-specification results and process deviations.
Oversee the hold-and-release of products.
Manage and audit the Master Sanitation Program and audit the Pest Control Program.
Review and sign Certificates of Analysis (COA’s).
Conduct training for Quality and Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Perform regular Plant walk through to ensure compliance with SOP’s, GMP’s and organization guidelines.
Conduct audits and inspections to meet state, FDA, USDA, customer, and internal regulations.
Conduct Good Manufacturing Practices and sanitation audits of facilities and outside warehouse storage areas.
Act as plant representative for all third-party audits (customer audits, regulatory inspections and third party certification).
Serve as primary on-site Safe Quality Food (SQF) practitioner.
Utilize database to track and maintain quality-related information.
Other Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.
Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ensure appropriate testing protocol is in place.
Coordinate resolution of custom complaints.
Validate changes to food safety fundamentals, food safety plans and food quality plans along with oversight and maintenance of SQF Programs.
Assist Plant Manager with special projects as needed.
Safely work with chemicals.
Work directly with the Plant Manager and Corporate Quality Assurance.
Work with other managers and supervisors in the plant to improve overall process.
Ensure compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Lab Procedures (GLP), Safety policies, regulatory requirements and organization guidelines.
On call 24 / 7 and may be asked to report to the plant during off time.
Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
