Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to provide bioinformatics support for microarray design, as well as data analysis support and training on Thermo Fisher microarray and NGS and the applications being utilized in academics, clinical labs, and biotech companies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for project management, content selection and curation, aimed at either whole genome or targeted genotyping, copy number analysis, expression, and other applications.

A key responsibility of this position is to work closely with our customers, understand their needs and understand their goals in designing a custom array.

In addition the successful candidate will interact with several cross-functional groups within the company, including bioinformatics research, product development, lab, sales and marketing.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support our customers in the area of microarray systems and next generation sequencing
  • Provide bioinformatics support for microarray design
  • Provide bioinformatics training, consultation, troubleshooting and assistance to customers
  • Demonstrate the technical advantages of Thermo Fisher Scientific products to sales staff and customers through seminars, workshops, demonstrations etc.
  • Interact with local, regional and global colleagues to ensure sharing of knowledge
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers
  • Skills / Behaviors Required

  • Professional skills+3 years of hands-on data analysis experiences in NGS or microarrayA good understanding of genomic analysis, molecular biology, and a broad range of NGS or microarray applications is necessaryStatistical computing language -
  • R is preferredExperience with SQLExperience with Linux / Unix including shell scriptingExperience with Python and / or PerlExperience with relational databasesExcellent knowledge of public genomics databases and sources (including dbSNP, 1000 Genomes Project, etc.

    Project management skills strongly preferredProven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExperience in a wide range of technologies and applications for life sciences is a plus

  • Minimum PhD (or equivalent experience) in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics or similar
  • Travel

  • Travel within Taiwan will be required.
  • The position is mainly based in Taiwan, but up to 50% overseas travel might be required.
  • Ability to drive is preferred.
