As a member of the CMF (Color, Material, Finish) Design team within the Google Hardware Design organization, you'll be a critical extension of the team’s efforts in defining what it means to hold Google in your hand’.
You'll work closely with the CMF Design Manager in Mountain View to manage a small group of CMF / ID Designers and Engineers in Taipei, while helping to implement color, material and finish directions throughout the different built-phases.
You will also partner with the ID teams, product engineers, project managers, and operations teams in close contact with our manufacturers and suppliers.

Manage and lead the day to day operations of the Taipei team while overseeing and evolving the Taipei CMF Studio.
Match and develop new color matches across a variety of materials and integrate and validate new CMF technologies.
Work with CMF Design team to create color and material master targets and manage product execution, working directly onsite at factory and vendors (create and review limit boards).
Be the primary POC between APAC stakeholders, CMs (contract manufacturers), suppliers, and cross functional teams within Google including but not limited to Industrial Design, Product Management and Product Development Teams.
Work with engineers to define parameters to control color consistency across different materials in one product, when applicable;
and control CMF consistency across different suppliers of the same part.
Minimum qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Product Design, similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
10 years of professional CMF specialist / engineer experience.
3 years of experience managing a team.
Experience in consumer electronics and mobile industry, in addition to recently shipped mass production products.
Preferred qualifications :
Examples of product execution that demonstrate proficiency in the latest materials, finishes and various manufacturing processes and color matching.
Demonstrated program management skills within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Effective communication skills, including the proven ability to effectively manage, influence, negotiate, to meet rigorous operational performance.
A keen eye for detail and excellent color acuity
Ability to work independently as well as within a mixed team environment, and ability to travel as required.
Fluency in Mandarin.
