Reporting to the Language Services Manager, and as an integral part of Questel’s Operations Team in Taiwan, this role is responsible to understand client business objectives as well as the Company’s internal processes to ensure translation services are delivered on time and with the utmost quality.
This position is ideal for a candidate who has native or near-native fluency in both English and Chinese and who wishes to further their career in the Translation and Localization industry.
We are willing to provide training in technical translations for qualified candidates who lack experience with that specific skill set.
Taiwanese work visa sponsorship available for well qualified, non-Taiwanese applicants.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions)
Translate, revise and edit patents from Chinese into English that are free of errors in meaning, usage, terminology, spelling, grammar, style, tone and syntax
Edit translated documents to ensure true and accurate representation of source document content, adherence to style guides, and compliance with client-specific publication specifications
Consult with desktop publishers to ensure that document design, layout, graphics and figures convey the meaning of the original content
Approval edited documents for final publication
Localize digital content
Manage glossaries and translation memories
Provide detailed linguistic feedback and training for non-native translators
Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience : BA / BS degree in relevant field required or any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities :
Native or near-native fluency in reading Chinese
Native or near-native fluency in writing English
Exceptional analytical, organizations and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and / or as part of a team with minimal supervision and regularly report on progress
Ability to effectively multi-task in stressful situations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Demonstrated skill in problem solving
Ability to adhere to deadlines and prioritize heavy workloads
High motivation, willingness to take initiative and complete assignments
Participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the needs and time of others are met and respected
Professional Chinese to English translation experience
Experience with CAT tools such as Trados
Qualification and / or significant experience in a STEM field, including Chemistry
Experience with patents and / or IP Law preferred
