Position summary
Asia based saddle engineer that works closely with the saddle vendors and internal cross-functional teammates
Focus on the saddle design / manufacturing process improvement, lab testing, documentation management to get better saddle performance and quality
Maintaining the development NPI tracking tool, sending weekly status reports, and being able to report the status for a given project for deliver control is standard work for this role
Role Responsibilities
Product Development
Work with the saddle team in USA / TW
Creating and Modifying CAD files
Manage manufacturing development of assigned saddle projects
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure the product meets the target
Source and analyze the new materials for the performance improvement of the saddles. Research advanced technology and process to support new project requirements
Set and control build spec boundaries for the vendors.
Ensure the final assembled product is within tolerance of the 2D drawings
Manufacturing Development and Process Improvement
Work with suppliers to review manufacturing processes to ensure the highest sample and production quality and consistency are achieved
Data Management
Manage Product information : CAD files creating and update, lab / field test results, complete all documentation as required for the new product introduction (NPI) process
Maintain Development Project information in PLM systems
Quality Compliance
Communicate issues found in the field and work with Quality teams to expedite our response and ability to solve
Work with QC on the diagnosis and holding the vendors accountable when production issues are found
Be responsible for quality and technical issues throughout development, providing root cause analysis with proposals for solutions and improvement
Collaborate with Compliance to ensure validating products for safety certification (ISO)
Travel
Regular factory visits for prototyping or pilot series
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN
Bachelor degree in Mechanical EngineeringUnderstanding of manufacturing process and experience working with vendorsGood communication skill in English and Mandarin3+ Years of experience of working in cycling industry (designed saddle is a plus)Strong computer skills on MS Office and experienced on the technical program (Creo, AutoCad )Knowledge of isotropic and composite material failureIntroductory ability in the application and theory of data collection tools, including strain gages, accelerometers, etc.
Experience with Pro-Engineer and / or PTC CreoExperience with Data acquisition / analysis software (MATLAB / Python / NILabView)Experience in the machine shop : should be able to machine or weld one-off parts and make repairs as neededJIRA & Confluence knowledge a plusScripting experience (python, MATLAB, or similar) a plusFinite element modeling experience
