The Senior Recruitment Practitioner is the mid-level job in the Recruitment and Talent Acquisition job family. They provide support with the entire recruitment process, operating at a local level in medium complexity environments.

They take their instructions from more senior Recruitment and Talent Acquisition or HR staff and they work closely with the HR Leadership organisation to assist with full life cycle of recruitment to support and advice their client base on recruitment decisions that enable dynamic business growth.

They perform and ensure the execution of all the elements of professional and administrative recruiting functions in support of identifying, interviewing, evaluating and selecting qualified mid-

level employees to effectively meet the organisation’s recruitment and talent acquisition requirements.


The Senior Recruitment Practitioner is able to consult with line managers when an a new job opening occurs to help them identify the exact skills set required, the best approaches to recruit for the position and to advise generally on the best method to fill the position for best long term business results.

They will be required to specialise in recruitment for specific business functions and they will be expected to have industry related knowledge of recruitment trends, candidate availability and salaries for these functions.


The Senior Recruitment Practitioner proactively sources and identifies qualified candidates in the market place for current and future job openings.

They are able to use a variety of sourcing strategies to locate best fit candidates. When required, they work with agencies to fill job openings and to find potential candidates they may have on their database.

These individuals actively use and promote internal referrals, the e-recruitment database and social media tools to fill current and future job openings.

They have knowledge of best practice sourcing practice in related industries and in specific markets.

Competency Based Interviewing

Senior Recruitment Practitioners are responsible for developing competency based interview guides which are mapped to the competencies mapped in the jobs for which they are recruiting.

They produce these guides ensuring that they are used during the interviewing process and they ensure that the relevant recruiting managers are skilled to use these guides.

They partner with the Learning and Development team to facilitate the education of the relevant hiring managers on competency based interviewing techniques and they partner with HR Consultants to assist with the management and facilitation the entire interview process.

Evaluating and Selecting

Working closely with the hiring manager, the Senior Recruitment Practitioner uses their specialist knowledge and relevant information to advice on the appropriate recruitment decisions based on the talent requirements of the company.

They evaluate and collate sources of information regarding candidates, including information from relevant pre-employment checks, psychometric assessments and discuss it with the hiring manager to facilitate an appropriate hiring decision.

Once a candidate has been selected, they assist with implementation of the correct hiring procedures.

Job Postings

The Senior Recruitment Practitioner monitors and maintains internal and external job postings. They keep internal job postings up to date on the e-

recruitment system and assist with the placement and administration related to job boards and social media for external postings.

They also ensure that all jobs are posted in line with Dimension Data corporate standards.


Senior Recruitment Practitioners ensure that all new hires are onboarded in a professional and engaging way.


The Senior Recruitment Practitioner extracts the necessary data required for monthly and weekly reporting from the e-recruitment system and assist with the analysis of this data, preparing it for presentation to the relevant forums.


The Senior Recruitment Practitioner shares their knowledge of Recruitment and Talent Acquisition best practice by mentoring and training more junior employees.

Behavioural Skills

They have sound interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. They practice two-way communication and listen to and understand others’ points of view.

As corporate citizens they are good team players and maintain integrity and displays reliability. They have a sound understanding of the business talent requirements and use their specialist recruitment and legislative knowledge to ensure compliance to the relevant regulatory requirements.

They are able to collaborate with first line managers at a tactical level.
