As an Manufacturing Central Team (MCT) Central Process and Equipment Engineering (CPEE) Metrology Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc.
you will be responsible for providing leadership to the global Micron network to drive yield and product quality improvement through technical expertise, business process management and project execution.
Your objective is to drive global peer groups to align and optimize manufacturing performance, execute to this by focusing on big rock performance gaps (metrics) and leverage the global network to define solutions that can be driven across all sites.
You will work with your customers on benchmarking these metrics to improve performance in the network. Examples include equipment and process safety best known methods (BKM), yield and quality improvements, equipment utilization optimization, wafer thru-
put optimization, cash cost spend optimization, and continuous improvement project prioritization and execution to project timelines.
This position requires interfacing with PEE Groups, Technology Development, and Procurement, as well as interaction with equipment and materials suppliers to drive area manufacturing issues forward.
You must be willing and capable of effective collaboration with manufacturing sites, TD, Procurement, Quality Engineering, other MCT departments, and external suppliers to accomplish your objectives.
You must also be willing and capable of international travel, as needed, to accomplish your objectives.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Collaborate to Provide and Improve Manufacturing Capability
Facilitate and drive global peer groups to ensure alignment on strategy and roadmap to achieve area objectives; monitor peer group benefits through metrics with clear line of sight to strategic objectives and or Manufacturing Big Rock and drive alignment where it is known to demonstrate improvement in Big Rock performance;
track alignment decisions and hold accountability to those decisions in cases where sites deviate from the roadmap / path defined;
ensure best methods sharing spans across all sites regardless of technology and / or site mission differences.
Prioritize resources (internally across network and / or externally with Suppliers) to close any gaps.
Leverage Copy Smart Team (CST) and PEE and hold the teams accountable to deliver to timelines / commitments.
Business Process Management
Manage your area(s) of responsibility to meet the expectations of MCT programs and business processes and adhere to the standards required by those programs and processes.
Actively provide input to improve and optimize MCT programs and processes to the respective program and / or process owners.
Be part of the team to manage global business for metrology area, including Tool of Records (TOR), Model of Records (MOR), Manufacturing Tool Evaluation Program (MTEP), DOC2, Executive Review Meeting (ERM), Supplier Change Notice (SCM) documentation etc.
Keep Acceptance Documentation and Configuration Specs (ADCS) updated to current TOR configuration in your area(s) of responsibility.
Work with Global Supplier Account Managers (GSAM) and Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) as the technical resource to drive and resolve concerns in your area(s) of responsibility.
Lead and coordinate priorities and activities to accomplish project tasks in your area(s) of responsibility
Define and monitor metric to track project success.
Move projects effectively through project lifecycle definition, planning, implementation, acceptance and review.
Manage priorities and enhancements to improve business processes and existing systems that are global in nature.
Select best candidates for project teams. Define stakeholder teams.
Motivate stakeholders and all project team members to take ownership of project and its successes.
Prioritize and manage multiple projects based on Fab and corporate objectives.
Maintain a portfolio of projects that maximizes Return on Investment (ROI) for the program and supports the Central Team and Corporate roadmaps.
Support Strategic Initiatives
Develop, drive and support strategies that not only benefit one site, but Micron network as a whole.
Identify and share Best Known Method (BKM) across sites and track compliance to agreed upon alignment to BKMs.
Support cross sites alignment activities through CST and provide strategic direction for the team.
Track Fab performace metrics for benchmarking purposes. Identify gaps and area of improvements for Fabs.
Partner with Technology Development and Global Procurement to drive suppliers' competitiveness in Metrology area to reduce CapEx and OpEx.
Support Tactical Initiatives
Provide tactical support and coordination for the Fabs as required for issues of People, Safety, Time to Mature Cum Yield, Quality, Cost, and Cycle Time.
Provide tactical support for Fabs smoke jumping’ activities. The engineer must also be willing and capable of international travel, including Extended International Business Travel (EIBT) assignment to 6 months as needed, to accomplish the goals.
Work with suppliers to address issues of spares delivery, quality, performance and change management.
Maintain a strong and open relationship with peer group and appropriate team members in other functional areas such as Process Integration Engineering, Quality Systems, Production Operations Management, and Purchasing.
Promote worldwide sharing and transfer of area-specific domain knowledge.
Communicate and respond to issues in a timely manner, with a cadence appropriate to the priority of the issue.
Keep stakeholders and team members informed of project status, progress, and roadblocks / opportunities.
Understand and use the best media (e-mail, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.) and techniques for transferring ideas, information, and updates to particular audience.
Demonstrate ability to give effective presentations to both small and large groups on project updates and new initiative proposals.
Concisely communicate issues which impact Fabs in a timely manner.
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity - Show respect for different cultures and languages; learn to pronounce names correctly;
speak English slowly and clearly when interacting with non-native English speakers; invite feedback to ensure others understand.
Use conference call etiquette and enforce during all meetings.
Be prepared to give feedback and discuss action items during regular one-on-one meetings with your supervisor.
Periodically follow up with manager to ensure all type of goals are met and get assistance to remove obstacles.
Training and Development
Keep up to date on current Fab manufacturing processing for both TD and manufacturing.

Work with site and central process hazard analysis managers / engineers to close any open PHA / risk items, tactically, within your area(s) of responsibility.
Track and execute closure to area safety issues / projects / activities across sites.
Encourage a safe working environment.
Manage notification workflow to keep all sites updated with vendor safety concerns.
Recognize and react to safety alarms (EES, fire alarm, MDA, etc.).
Adhere to all company-wide and site safety procedures (PPE, EIPS, LOTO etc.).
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
3 years’ experience in any of the following :
Metrology area (metrology process, metrology equipment, or metrology operation), in which minimum 1 year experience in Metrology Apps.
Current or previous Senior Engineer or equivalent or above position experience in MFG, R and D operations or equipment suppliers.
Engineer 3 experience will be considered depending on experience and supervisor performance feedback.
Proven capability of dealing with complexity and an ability to utilize resources effectively to bring clarity to require actions.
In depth knowledge of Process and Equipment perspective. Area content expert. Experience across multiple areas is a plus.
Good English skills and the ability to lead and coordinate global teams across cultures and time zones. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with or at other sites.
A record of performance excellence for current area of responsibility, previous areas managed, and recognized as having demonstrated successful leadership characteristics both in present and past jobs.
