Job Description

Working with the Home Senior Research Manager for TV product research, to contribute substantially to Omdia’s TV coverage.

This requires conducting research (primary and secondary), managing data tools and processes, forecasting of TV markets, and authoring analysis reports.

Coverage would include TV worldwide, with special focus on researching manufacturing, costs and product ranges. Through individual primary and secondary research activities, and in collaboration with data transformation and research support teams, the person in this role will contribute to the product’s success through research quality, team workflow support and creation of insights and analysis.

Main Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

Team support - Work very closely with CE research team members across multiple locations in Europe, Asia and US; support various market reports by assisting home team and collaborating with PRO (Penang Research Operations) as well as the bigger group of Consumer Electronics.

Secondary research Use a range of secondary sources to support primary research. As examples, these sources would include Internet, trade journals, in-house research, trade associations, public reports, financial releases, and company press releases.

  • Building base data (related directly to Forecasting) Use primary and secondary research to build credible base data; ensure sufficient coverage of market players;
  • create estimates where company reporting not available; utilizing history; ensure consistency with related data / markets;
  • log all assumptions and work in a clear way. Special responsibilities will include building forecasts of novel features based on a clear understanding of technology and video content trends.

  • Writing Provide qualitative analysis to support and justify data with a focus on change and development; use a text plan and outline structure to support concise output;
  • discuss the impact of technology and key market trends

  • Scoping Use customer-centric feedback to direct minor scope changes; keep the research fresh by understanding customer needs / questions;
  • enhance the research each cycle and continually add value to ensure we have clear USP; work with direct management to support research changes

    Sales support Partner with the sales team to generate new leads, progress existing leads, and support renewals; use scoping to continually evolve the research offering


  • Comfortable using the phone and email for outreach and developing relationships
  • Proficiency with MS applications, Excel solid grasp of Excel for data building, data manipulation, and pivot table creation
  • Experience using data modeling tools based on R, python or Power BI is a bonus
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers around the world across many time zones.
  • Ability to think creatively in approaching problems to find imaginative solutions
  • Strong responsibility and ownership of deliverables and deadlines on tight schedule.
  • Prioritising skills for competing tasks
  • Writing reports and insights in a structured and concise way
  • Industry experience in TV manufacturing, broadcast, or consumer electronics.
  • Communication skills with presenting to clients, conferences and the press.
