Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.
This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position :
Provide high quality mold design and support tool shop during fabrication
Support mold design capacity and capability improvement for Corning Global Molding Strategy
Major Roles and Responsibilities
The number one responsibility for the individual selected is to design injection molds and support during fabrication.
Concept Development :
Provide DFM for mold quotation process
Evaluate part design for moldability
Follow Corning Global Mold Design Manual
Do CAE simulation to support mold design
Fabrication and Project Management :
Ensure mold design meets Corning standards and requirements and continue to support in improvement and optimization
Responsible for 3D mold design and 2D drawing and release drawing to tool shop
Projects involved with :
Design capability improvement projects
Design capacity improvement projects
Support other development projects if needed
Skill and Knowledge Requirements
Experience Requirements :
5 years minimum or relevant working experience in injection mold design
Able to design mold without assistance
Required Skills :
Full knowledge of injection mold design and effect for mold fabrication and injection molding.
Utilize 2D / 3D drawing software in mold design (Preferred : Siemens UG and AutoCAD).
Capable of using Microsoft Office and CAE software like Mold Flow or Moldex3D.
Language Requirement :
English Able to communicate via email (Capable of mold spec discussion by email)
Desired Skills :
Provide reasonable mold quotation & understand cost structure of molds
Familiar with concepts of mold structure standardization
Project management with 3+ years’ experience
Mold machining related experience or knowledge
Familiar with injection molding process and troubleshooting
Industry 4.0 concept for mold engineering
CAD software programming knowledge or background
BS in Mechanical or Mold Engineering or equivalent degree is preferred (Optional)
Associate Degree / Technical School for tool fabrication or equivalent (Optional)
