As an Optical Hardware Engineer, you'll work on color tuning, LED evaluation, illumination optics design and sensors. You will work with the Product teams to create and review engineering requirements specification documents, optical designs, write detailed engineering reports, build prototypes and create DOEs to evaluate requirements and system performance, support production build abroad and perform failure analysis and debug.

As part of the Optics team, you will be responsible for creating the optical systems that enables an excellent user experience for our end users.

  • Design, analyze, prototype and validate optical designs.
  • Write engineering requirements specs and engineering reports for each project worked.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware Engineers and vendors.
  • Work on technology development for future products.
  • Support offshore hardware builds and perform failure analysis and debugging of units created at the build.
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Optics or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in illumination optics and color technology, with a focus on design and lab work
  • Ability to travel abroad up to 20% of the time as required.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Master's degree or PhD in Optics.
  • Experience with a variety of optical instruments and prototyping.
  • Experience with a variety of optical design and analysis programs in illumination optics.
  • Experience with color tuning.
  • Understanding of color spaces - theory and practice.
  • Ability to program in MATLAB or Python.
