Candidate will be part of the growing of in-house design capability, and weare looking for an advisory engineer with server design experience, andproject team leadership experience.
Candidate will be part of the Data CenterGroup responsible for server development at Lenovo. You will be working withpeers across worldwide design centers to share common building block designs,and deliver high quality products to our customers.
creating in-house developed server designs including printed circuit boardlayouts, structural sheet metal enclosures, and plastic part designs in ournext generation servers.
Work with architects to close on a design concept, then develop and validatethe design. Candidate must be capable of creating designs, co-working withother team member’s, and solving design bugs when they arise.
Work in a close team environment, interacting with the thermal, power,system, and extended team members, to achieve a design, which meets thebusiness and marketing requirements.
Responsible for contributing to common building block designs used acrossour portfolio. You will report weekly project status to management.
Position Requirements :
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience using the PTC Creo CAD tool and PTCWindchill for CAD data file management.
A Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering degree is required.
Technical skills required include three dimensional computer designengineering skills, including sheet metal and plastic part design.
This position requires proficiency using Microsoft products includingspreadsheets, email, and instant message, and Sharepoint database.
Skills to manage engineering changes, bill of material creation, costestimating and tolerance analysis is required.
Knowledge of server industry standards and compliance industry standards isexpected.
Hands on experience with assembling and testing servers, and using basicmechanical tools is a plus.
Soft Skill Requirement
Candidate must have strong communication skills for negotiating designdetails that support the product marketing requirements.
Strong written skills are required to document mechanical specifications forthe product, and reports of test results.
Understanding of marketing requirements, and the ability to implement theminto robust, cost effective designs.
This position requires ability to interact effectively with suppliers, andto advise and delegate design deliverable. Creative thinking, problem-solvingcapability, leadership skills, and teaming skills are also required.
This isnot a project management position, but having strong organization skills ispreferred.
