Position Purpose

Reporting directly to the Communications Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the internal and external JTI Communications strategy.

The external strategy will reflect the Company’s views on a wide range of topics including the regulatory environment, taxation, the illegal trade of tobacco, public relations and any other issue deemed necessary to protect the commercial and reputational interests of JTI.

The role will focus on delivering key market and global strategic objectives through Taiwan’s national media channels. The job holder will also responsible for the development and implementation of JTI Taiwan's internal communications strategy, effectively communicating the organization's vision, mission, values and business priorities to cultivate a sense of community and foster a culture that supports and drives behaviours aligned with our Company Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement the external communications strategy for JTI Taiwan.
  • Manage the development and operation of effective communications for external stakeholders so that JTI Taiwan is speaking with consistency on the issues affecting its business.
  • Support the JTI Corporate Affairs function from a communications perspective in its political engagement activities in light of the regulatory challenges and industry issues the business faces in Taiwan.
  • Successfully develop and implement JTI Taiwan’s national media relations program including campaigns, editorials and press releases to bring balance to the debate, defend the company position and enhance its reputation.
  • Develop and maintain proactive national and trade press contacts across Taiwan while also monitoring the media on a daily basis.
  • Manage external communications including effective messaging, delivery and management of the Company website and the production of corporate / trade publications.
  • Develop and execute internal communications through managing JTI Taiwan's internal communications channels including the corporate intranet, together with content generation for business updates, speech writing, and production of a portfolio of in-house publications
  • Manage JTI Taiwan's Leadership Communications initiative
  • Localize Company narritive into meaningful and relevant messages for employees in JTI Taiwan and support local GM with execution
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • A university degree in communications, PR, journalism, or related subject
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a Communications Specialist
  • Experience in an international environment or multinational company ideally FMCG would also be desirable.
  • Project management knowledge and experience essential
  • Skills, Competencies & Languages

  • Knowledge of legislative and the political environment would be a valuable asset
  • Excellent communication skills, a true team player with the confidence and ability to communicate at all levels within the business and with key external partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Knowledge of web publishing or content management systems would be an advantage
  • General Microsoft programme knowledge; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Business Level English speaker and writer required
  • Must have a passion for writing with proof of actual articles / editorial developed
