Position Description :
My team is growing its in-house design capability, and I am looking for anadvisory engineer with server design experience, and project team leadershipexperience.
My team is part of the Data Center Group responsible for serverdevelopment at Lenovo. We work with peers across worldwide design centers toshare common building block designs, and deliver high quality products to ourcustomers.
Responsibilities include creating in-house developed server designs includingprinted circuit board layouts, structural sheet metal enclosures, and plasticpart designs in our next generation servers.
You will work with architects toclose on a design concept, then develop and validate the design. Candidatemust be capable of creating designs, co-working with other team member’s, andsolving design bugs when they arise.
Candidate must be able to work in a closeteam environment, interacting with the thermal, power, system, and extendedteam members, to achieve a design, which meets the business and marketingrequirements.
In addition, this candidate will be responsible for contributingto common building block designs used across our portfolio.
You will reportweekly project status to management.
Position Requirements :
Technical skills required include three dimensional computer designengineering skills, including sheet metal and plastic part design.
Candidatemust have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience using the PTC Creo CAD tooland PTC Windchill for CAD data file management.
This position requiresproficiency using Microsoft products including spreadsheets, email, andinstant message, and Sharepoint database.
Skills to manage engineeringchanges, bill of material creation, cost estimating and tolerance analysis isrequired. Knowledge of server industry standards and compliance industrystandards is expected.
Hands on experience with assembling and testingservers, and using basic mechanical tools is a plus. A BSME degree isrequired.
Non-technical skills required for this position include strong communicationskills for negotiating design details that support the product marketingrequirements.
Strong written skills are required to document mechanicalspecifications for the product, and reports of test results. This candidatemust have an understanding of marketing requirements, and the ability toimplement them into robust, cost effective designs.
This position requiresability to interact effectively with suppliers, and to advise and delegatedesign deliverables. Creative thinking, problem-solving capability, leadershipskills, and teaming skills are also required.
This is not a project managementposition, but having strong organization skills is preferred.
