The Senior Services Technician takes responsibility for the maintenance, fault finding and repair on all desktops of associated software at client sites.

They collaborate and work closely with the Engineering team to provide install and break / fix functions for clients.

    Support Services

    Investigation and resolution of technical problems, assisting with faultfinding and break / fix function and new installations.

    Service Level Management

    Monitors and logs the actual service provided, compared to that required by service level agreements.

    Customer service support

    Responds to common requests for service by providing information to enable fulfilment. Promptly allocates unresolved calls as appropriate.

    Maintains records, informs users about the process and advises relevant persons of actions taken.

    Systems installation / decommissioning

    Installs or removes hardware and / or software, and associated connections, using supplied installation instructions and tools.

    Conducts tests and corrects malfunctions. Documents results in accordance with agreed procedures. Assists with the evaluation of change requests.

    Contributes, as required, to investigations of problems and faults concerning the installation of hardware and / or software and confirms the correct working of installations.

    Ensure operational hardware / software

    Individuals in this role install and test new software and hardware. They administer the operating system and the existing application software, including the administration of the active directory / exchange.

    Senior Services Technicians diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software failures and provide technical support, escalating unresolved issues when appropriate.

    Senior Services Technicians provide telephonic, remote and on-site support to clients.

    Diagnose and troubleshoot failures

    Senior Services Technicians engage with clients and assist with faultfinding and break / fix function at medium to high levels of complexity.

    They are methodical and demonstrate problem solving skills in trouble shooting hardware and software solutions.

    Provide support

    When problems arise, they provide support and maintain a log and / or list of all the required repairs. They remain current with developments in the hardware and software technologies.

    Senior Services Technicians are aware and knowledgeable on updated versions of software applications and operating systems.

    They exhibit elementary coordination and planning abilities and provide support and guidance for Services Technicians and Interns.

    They assist the Technical Team by documenting standard operating procedures for hardware and software installation.

    Ensure routine server and network maintenance

    The Senior Services Technician carries out routine server and network maintenance tasks. They setup and maintain back-up systems for desktops and file servers.

    They ensure the functionality of packaged non-proprietary software. They assist with ensuring that standards and protocols are adhered to including ensuring the functionality of and updating virus software.

    At times, Senior Services Technicians may be required to assist with end user training and support and education.
