Our computational challenges are so big and unique we can't just buy our hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Our Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services.

As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning.

From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google's continued growth.

With your technical expertise, you lead and manage projects, develop product and process improvements, provide consultation to others and help facilitate training and development.

As a Computer Aided Engineer, you will build and operate systems and support that enable the Devices and Services product area and its associated business functions and partners to grow, operate efficiently and deliver excellent customer experience.

You will enable business transformation with a focus on automation, optimization and digital transformation.

  • Generate FEA / analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies.
  • Perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis.
  • Own and drive material characterization and testing plan to support modeling efforts.
  • Own, drive, and execute consistent methods of modeling and analysis of modules / system level across programs.
  • Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems.
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software such as ABAQUS, LS-Dyna or equivalent.
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • 5 years of experience in design, analysis (including experience in structure analysis), and shipping in high volume consumer electronic products.
  • Experience in testing including methods using Universal Testing Machines, and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis.
  • Consumer electronics experience.
  • Experience in using modeling practices including model validation techniques.
  • Experience in failure modeling of different classes of materials, adhesive, rubber are, and flat display material.
  • Knowledge of structural simulation tools such as Abaqus CAE and / or Hypermesh.
