The Opportunity

In this position, you will manage an embedded firmware development team and be responsible planning, execution and delivery of production quality firmware in support of Solid State Storage (SSS) products.

You and your team, will work with Program Management, peer firmware, Hardware and ASIC managers and Validation to establish engineering schedules, resourcing and development priorities for the product.

Your teams will engage in co-development with our ASIC and NAND teams using behavioral models and Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) platforms to develop leading edge Solid State Drive (SSD) products and capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply both technical and management skills to plan and execute firmware development across SSD market segments.

As the Firmware manager your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to :

  • Provide day to day prioritization and technical guidance to your team.
  • Assess the performance of your team on an ongoing process and own the semi-annual performance review activities for your team.
  • Advise and coach your firmware team on career development and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear expectations, hold team members accountable and incentivize proactive issue resolution to deliver world class products on time and on budget.
  • Build a strong team with culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Drive and be a strong advocate for software "best practices" for design, coding, testing and configuration management.
  • Working with your staff and peers to deliver FW product development plans, including : resourcing, prioritization, schedules, and budget.
  • Working directly with product planners, architects and your firmware development & verification team to analyze new product definitions, identify FW design requirements.
  • Facilitate all product management aspects of the assigned products including managing the firmware work backlog, schedules and coordinating FW activities across the development teams to accomplish committed milestones.
  • Ensure project roadblocks are identified, corrective action plans identified and executed to closure.
  • Identify and drive to closure process improvement efforts to improve organizational efficiency overtime in the areas of deliverable quality, resource efficiency, code reuse, shift left development, etc.
  • Some projects will include responsibility to engage with external development partners including joint product planning requiring the candidate to manage complex partner relationships.
