The Scientific Advisor is a member of a field-based team of specialists who function as an extension of the Taiwan Medical Affairs organization.
SAs are responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders involved in various phases of product development.
Scientific Advisors provide medical information through scientific exchange in a fair-balanced manner and provide clinical / scientific support for Janssen and the Medical Affairs department at the direction of Medical Affairs management.
This is a field-based position, covering Taiwan and requires professionals with established personal and scientific creditability to interact with thought leaders and centers of excellence.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and establish and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs; connecting KOLs in academic and community centers
Act as primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and performing investigator-initiated research
Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with regional and national plans of action (POAs)
Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate) in academic, community, and healthcare provider setting in both group and one-on-one situations
Collaborate with the Clinical organization to enhance patient enrolment in Janssen-sponsored clinical trials by identifying appropriate clinical trial sites and interacting with investigators in ongoing studies
Coordinate and / or host advisory boards, continuing educational workshops, seminars and programs for healthcare professionals and scientists
Collect and follow up on unsolicited medical information requests and assisting in the developing novel clinical study ideas
Provide scientific support at medical congresses
Provide timely feedback / information on emerging clinical / scientific trends and opportunities to internal stakeholders
Monitoring the scientific literature for new developments
Provide training to internal teams on disease and / or product-related topics
Provide up-to-date medical / scientific support to relevant experts to enable informed decision making for product listings in guidelines, formularies, and in health economic assessments
Job Requirements / Qualifications
BS degree in scientific and / or medical discipline required; MD, DO, PharmD, MSN or PhD strongly preferred
More than 2 years of clinical or research experience in cardiopulmonology, rheumatology, or liver transplant
Ability to assess scientific information, rate the evidence and synthesize key content within strategic and regulatory settings
Familiarity with clinical trial design and evaluation
Proven ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional networks
Current working knowledge of Taiwan legal, regulatory and compliance regulations and guidelines relevant to industry interactions with health-care professionals
Ability to partner and maintain relationships with the medical community
Flexible, positive outgoing personality with high level of drive and enthusiasm
Medical scientific writing experience and good publication practice understanding
Strong personal integrity and sense of urgency
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and time management skills
