PurposeThis important position is responsible for leading the promotion and closing business for new products to customers to further advance their use within the electronic markets we serve.

The Customer Applications Manager is specifically responsible for Advanced Deposition Materials (ADM) new product opportunities for next generation technology nodes.

Nature and ScopeThis position will be based in Taiwan and will report to the Global Manager, Customer Applications in ADM.

Critical to the success in this position is developing deep and lasting relationships with key representatives with assigned strategic customers at all levels of customer organizations.

DIMENSIONSThe Customer Applications Manager will be responsible for the following :

Customer relationship at the technical working levels within the assigned accounts

  • Identify new product opportunities for market managers to evaluate; understanding customer roadmap needs
  • Support product evaluation efforts at the customer site to further optimize the offering for adoption
  • Applications and information support for products that are currently in the Versum Materials new products process or just emerging into commercialization
  • Facilitate the scheduling and topics for technology exchange meetings at both the management and working levels
  • Execution of new product introductions in line with business priorities
  • Identify and develop new relationships that further advance the opportunities for new electronics material development
  • Leverage the experimental products program to increase new product introductions
  • Coordinate and manage Versum Materials reply to all new ADM product inquiries, RFIs / RFQs for new products
  • Assist the Market Managers with developing strategic customer product plans to support an increase in the velocity of new product introductions.
  • Provide customer specific customer forecasts.

  • Supervise other Customer Applications Specialists. Provide coaching, guidance, training and support to assigned employees.
  • An understanding of the competitive landscape (i.e., new product introductions, strategic alliances, intellectual property, etc.
  • that helps to further define our new product development strategy

  • The incumbent must have a notable credibility both externally and internally. There is a high degree of collaboration with customers, Advanced Deposition Materials personnel (especially the Technology and Marketing functions) and country / regional Sales teams.
  • The individual must bridge the gap between our customers and Versum Materials and ensure both the technical and commercial success of our products.

  • The incumbent must possess a wide range of skills to be successful. The job responsibilities span technical sales, marketing, and technical support activities.
  • Specifically, knowledge of semiconductor processing and the ability to talk on a technical basis with our customers’ R&D teams are required.

    This takes someone with a solid technical background and ability. Secondly, strong sales skills and business acumen are required to promote our new materials to our strategic accounts and also to work with our marketing group to prioritize internal R&D efforts based on future commercial potential.

    Finally, a high degree of influence and excellent communications skills are required to communicate customer requirements to the global organization and drive the response that our customers require from us to be mutually successful.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESThis position is accountable for the following end results : 1. Develop and maintain close relationships with key innovators within the organizations at assigned strategic customers, to advance the identification of new product opportunities by opening new doors at our strategic customers.

    2. Identify new Advanced Deposition Materials opportunities and drive engagement to win new materials at assigned strategic customers.

    3. Communiate and prioritize customers’ technical and related commercial needs to Technology and ADM Business team.4. Ensure appropriate ADM market, Technology and Sales teams are leveraged to maximize adoption of new ADM products.

    5. Supervise other assigned Customer Applications Specialists.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in science or engineering (Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, etc.) Advanced degree in science / engineering / management is a plus.
  • Customer or technical field applications background is preferred.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in the electronic materials space
  • Proven ability to develop strong customer relationships at various levels
  • Proven track record in previous sales or marketing roles
  • Knowledge of semiconductor materials and processes-Thin Film equipment and processes
  • Hands-on experience in technical marketing, commercial negotiations, business planning, strategy development and execution
  • Strong teamwork spirit and inter-personal communication and influencing skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Willing and able to make frequent business travels domestically, as required
