The role leads a team of procurement personnel at the plant level within the region and provides guidance and support on a strategic as well as tactical level, as needed.
The role also acts as a key relationship builder and liaison with the community of regional vendors.
Primary responsibilities :
Execution of the MPS Global Procurement Strategy at the Regional Level :
o Understand and execute global procurement strategy at the regional level and act as the regional liaison / executor of the strategy;
o Engage with the plant procurement personnel on a regular basis and manage any issues at the plant level and report up any issues that need urgent attention to the Director Global Strategic Sourcing & Procurement and / or Regional Ops leader;
o Run weekly calls with plant personnel and understand progress on savings initiatives; Review and Manage monthly reporting for the plants covered within the geography;
o Communicate at least twice every month, with Regional heads of other regions on any sourcing and savings opportunities that can be brought about via inter-regional collaboration.
o Proactively scan the regional market place for opportunities for consolidation of spend and carry out first level engagement with potential alternate vendors;
o Work with the plants in identifying and evaluating opportunities to go direct to manufacturers or otherwise optimizing costs;
Essential Qualifications :
o Possess strong procurement experience of 8-10 years, preferably in a manufacturing setting; Chemical industry experience a plus;
o Hold a Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Finance, Economics, or related fields; MBA a plus, but not required.
o Have demonstrated an ability to lead a team and provide leadership in strategic and tactical matters;
o Possess good written and verbal communication skills and possess experience in dealing with external parties (vendors, contractors, etc.)
