This position is for a Hardware Principal Engineer for the Server Storage team developing server backplanes in the Dell EMC Server and Infrastructure Systems organization.
The server storage backplane hardware team is closely integrated to the broader server development organizations, including server platforms, backplane firmware team, RAID controller team, and storage media.
The position provides the opportunity for setting the technical and design direction for the backplane storage subsystem, along with responsibility for its implementation into the server product lines.
This includes feature definition, supplier selection, component selection, development process execution and improvement, integration testing, fault isolation and resolution, manufacturing release, and resolution of design issues found in the field.
The Hardware Principal Engineer is responsible for providing technical contribution to the specification to development of storage solutions and for debug of interactions through the backplane firmware and up to the management code stack.
Duties include all activities necessary to take a design from concept to production including, architecture definition, schematics, layout, component selection, design reviews, SI analysis, debug, test, issue resolution and factory ramp support.
The ideal candidate should have design and development experience with storage hardware solutions. They should also have experience with board layout & schematic tools, CPLD designs, VR designs, high speed signal designs (12Gb / s SAS and PCIe Gen 3 / 4), and experience with backplane to planar connector / cable solutions.
Target is a BS or MS EE / CE with 6-8+ years’ experience.
