Juniper Networks is a leading provider of networking hardware and systems, headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA.
Juniper has an immediate need at its Taiwan location for a highly skilled and experienced Thermal / Mechanical engineer to represent Mechanical / Thermal and drive ODM programs locally.
The main objective of Mechanical / Thermal group is to apply principles of mechanical engineering analysis to develop practical solutions to the very demanding requirements for Juniper products and to support the design group in ensuring that those solutions are properly implemented.
The selected candidate will be a key member of the Mechanical / Thermal team, responsible for all aspects of Mechanical / thermal design to drive ODM partners an guide them in negotiating thermal and related mechanical and electrical product requirements.
Work closely with the Mechanical / Thermal lead to ensure all the deliverables are met on ODM programs, and ODM partners are meeting Juniper requirements for product development.
Performing detailed technical Thermal / Mechanical review on mechanical design, analysis and Thermal simulation including airflow analysis.
Review detailed specification of thermal components such as heat sinks, air movers, thermal interface materials, adhesives, etc.
and other special projects as required.
Expert-level knowledge of air-cooled electronics design, including the selection and application of air-moving devices suitable for dense electronics assemblies exhibiting substantial pressure loss is required.
Extensive familiarity with the specification and application of all types of heat sinks is essential, including familiarity with embedded heat pipe and vapor chamber type sinks.
This product oriented position also requires familiarity the various types and proper application of Thermal Interface Materials (TIMs) to product designs.
Computer industry experience is highly relevant; however aerospace, medical device industry or other industry experience demanding a disciplined approach is also appropriate for this role.
Knowledge of thermal aspects of ASIC package design is a plus.
Ability to model complex flow and heat transfer systems in either ICEPAK or FloTHERM is a plus. Familiarity with SolidWORKS CAD software (or a similar system such as Pro / E) is needed to enable the selected candidate to view and manipulate CAD models from the design group as required.
A sound working knowledge of lab methods is required. Excellent communication skills are an important requirement for this position.
Must be a self motivated individual to work in a fast paced high energy environment with short product development cycles.
This person must be team oriented and willing to work as part of project team.
Some understanding of Electro-Mechanical design for design and development of rack mount products is a PLUS. Basic understanding of BOM (Bill of Materials), EMI containment, plastic design, die cast design and drawing standards.
Good understanding of sheet metal design is a PLUS. Team player who works well in innovative engineering team environment is desired.
Education : Typically requires BS in mechanical engineering or related field and 12+ years directly related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience or a Masters degree and 10+ years’ experience.
