AWS Support provides technical support to a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

About this Job

This is a remote technical support role (NOT call center) who should be an expert in various IT areas and provide timely and professional troubleshooting advice and architectural best practice to AWS customers via support cases and occasional on-site visits.

We are seeking talented engineers skilled in the art of integration who can bridge gaps between systems, software, and ops and are not constrained by how things are usually done .

This new team will focus on delivering solid, scalable systems on an aggressive schedule.

  • Learn and use groundbreaking technologies

  • Leverage your extensive customer support experience to provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve our services
  • Drive customer communication during critical events
  • Drive projects that improve support-related processes and our customers’ technical support experience
  • Write tutorials, how-to videos, and other technical articles for the AWS customer community
  • Work on critical, highly complex customer problems that may span multiple AWS services
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of the Linux operating system
  • 2 years plus of distributed system management experience
  • Minimum of 1 year building and running systems for Internet-facing services
  • Minimum 1 years experience with TCP / IP network troubleshooting and administration
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency
  • Experience in AWS system monitoring and management
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline
  • Strong debugging and systems analysis skills to be able to identify and quickly resolve / mitigate issues
  • Exposure to massive-scaled distributed systems
  • Experience with SQL scripts and database administration
  • Experience in a 24x7 production environment, esp. one based on Linux
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
  • Knowledge of TCP / IP networking, architecture, and core technologies (such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP, Routing, VPN)
  • 1 year plus of development of systems management and administration automation in Perl, Python, Ruby, or Java
